I started out in K-9 but was flown to Clark AFB 7/15/1967 for surgery. With the surgery and recovery time I was moved to Tiger Flight and my dog Prince was given the Russ Freeburg. I spent most of my time with Tiger working the command post which is where I met the FAC pilots. The first flight I took I did not have my camera with me but I made sure I had it for the second flight. The FAC pilots were very happy to have a second body with a weapon on board. I never thought about it at the time but I never notified anyone where I was going to be. I guess that could have caused a problem if we went down but that would have been the least of my worries. I got to take two flights up between Đông Hà and Khe Sanh during the siege but due to the B-52's we never got near Khe Sahn. Several of my slides never came back from processing, probably because they were of gun emplacements and some camps. Brad Deal
